The Heart Attack Grill-Seriously America??

The Heart Attack Grill is an actual restaurant in Las Vegas.  The food at this establishment is so fatty and high in calories that it has literally sent customers to the hospital.  Well, it's a marketing ploy but come on America, do we need to make fun of our own stupidity by eating ourselves to death?  The theme is pretty disgusting...

The owner, "Doctor" John Basso, a former certified nutritionist, previously ran a Jenny Craig weight loss center.  If this was only a joke it would be funny but we have a serious obesity problem in our nation that leads to diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.  Why would someone choose to make themselves sick by eating this way?

  1. I agree! It's such a serious matter but people are taking it as a joke. The lady in the video stated she ran a couple of days before, and eating at this restaurant is a treat--I'm not sure if she knows she'll gain back all those calories and double it by eating a quadruple bypass burger.

  2. Wow, I can't believe this is real. It honestly makes me laugh a little bit. I'm just not sure if I'm laughing at the fact that this is their tactic to drive in customers or the fact that it actually works. I must admit it's different than any restaurant I have seen before but not in a good way. But they do say "there is no such thing as bad publicity." It's sad to me that they put on the front door that people have actually been sent to the hospital as a selling point. This is a perfect example of our country profiting off the stupidity of its citizens. Just sad.

  3. I absolutely love restaurants like this! As long as there aren't any preservatives and all of the ingredients are natural...i say pile it on!

  4. As a Marketer perspective people love to be challenged to do/try something new. In my opinion these days people are bombarded every day with healthy stuff and they want to scape at least once of it and the way to do it is eating at this type of restaurants.

  5. I saw this fast food restaurant on Food Network awhile back. They give out free meals to any customer that is 350lbs and over. Before receiving the free meal, they have you weigh in, how degrading is that? Only in America I guess..

    1. Really? That is just...well, hard to fathom! I mean, why would you purposefully try to add to the problem? It's one thing to play ignorant, but purposefully trying to make it worse... It's hard to imagine.

  6. I can understand the feeling of excess and escaping constraints while in Vegas. But I agree with you when you ask why people would do this to themselves? Restraint.... anyone?

  7. People may think that tasty food is sames as dangerous/fatty food, and I would say that the worst part of this is that people that consumes this type of food are the ones that consumes this food all the time not just once in a while and that is when the health complications are coming from. Interesting blog and good to open eyes.

  8. Gosh. It's one thing to eat fatty foods because they are convenient and cheap, but eating them BECAUSE they are fatty? That's just asking for trouble! I know there are a lot of weird themed restaurants, but this is just gross.

  9. I couldn't believe it either, but I guess that is their niche. It's a horrible way to market a restaurant like that.
